Branzi observes that all historical Design schools began as anti-schools, because in modernity there is a contradiction between spontaneity and learning. The Ulm School of Design was the exception: in a particular moment of European history, it proposed a completely utopian and surreal alliance between democracy, science, and modernity, offering Europe a vision of a trustworthy modernity.
